The Indigenous Capital of Colombia, Uribia - The Guajira, was the place to gather 21 communities of the indigenous people of South America, in the 2nd International Encounter of Children of Mother Earth, carried out by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP).
The event began with the installation of the main table, formed by the international board of the GEAP headed by its executive president, Dr. William Soto; Dr. Gabriela Lara, general director; coordinator of the GEAP in Colombia, Ivan Sarmiento; Dr. Camilo Montoya Reyes, judge of the Higher Council of Judicature; mayor of the municipality of Uribia and three representatives of distinct elected countries by the indigenous community present at the event to represent their voices in the opening greeting.
The singing of the National Hymn of Colombia in the Wayuunaiki language, by the students of the college San Jose of Uriba, from early hours there was evidence of communion and brotherhood of the people present. More than 3,000 people were present in the Colombia Plaza in the space of dialogue, promotion of unity, and impulse to divulgation of the ancestral knowledge of our Indigenous Peoples.
“I reiterate the commitment that these spaces of the Encounters of Children of Mother Earth is a space for you. You are the protagonist, and we in the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace want to unite; and together reach the full recognition of the Rights of the indigenous peoples, and mainly protect and restore our Mother Earth.” Dr. William Soto Santiago, executive president of the GEAP.
“The High Courts support this work that the Global Ambassador of the Activists for Peace, Dr. William Soto carries out; particularly the project that has to do with the typification of the crime of ethnocide.” Dr. Camilo Montoya Reyes.
The governing mayor of the municipal of Uriba, Luis Enrique Solano, in his opening discussion expressed:
“This is the right moment to strengthen our ties of friendship and strengthen our ties with the planet. For me this represents a stimulation of satisfaction and the unavoidable duty to apply public politics for the protection of the Environment, and guarantee a better quality of life for the future.”
Representatives of the ancestral communities of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela, imposed their voices in this great event, celebrated on August 9th, International Day of the Indigenous Peoples.
“We are not the owners of nature nor the world, we are Children of Mother Earth; and that is what we want to say on this day, with the energy that each of our people have; and that with their values and principles of reciprocity, of mutual respect, we want to share and learn. Also contribute (...) not only for the future of society, but for the future of our peoples,” said Ximena Llamin, leader of the people Mapuche of Chile.
Jose Diego Fuenmayor, a representative of the ethnicity Wayuu in Venezuela, arrived in Colombia to witness this International Encounter. In his participation he expressed:
“We consider this Encounter of great importance, to remind the world that our thoughts as Wayuu, as Original People is an option of life for humanity. It is from here that we want to contribute to the knowledge of our elders.”
“We as a nationality and as people, support this project and we are part of this project (...) to ethnocide and the ecocide above all of our Mother Nature,” declared Luis Javier Aguavil, governor of the nationality Tsachila of Ecuador.
In nine work tables, the representatives of the original communities socialized and built proposals of restoration for our Mother Earth
The act started the work in the parallel tables, the coordinator of the GEAP in Colombia was in charge, who presented a summary of the five regional encounters of the Children of Mother Earth carried out in the country, and he presented the dynamic in which the work of socialization and unification of proposals would be carried out.
With the call of nine facilitators provided by the GEAP and assigned for each one of the tables, an external observer of the institution for the verification and authentication of the results of the agreement of the final document, the representatives of the Original Peoples worked in the implementation of the destined proposals:
1. The conservation and restoration of water sources;
2. The conservation and restoration of Earth;
3. Counteracting the effects of climate change;
4. The conservation and restoration of biodiversity;
5. The rescue and promotion of cultural values and ancestral music of our original people;
6. Women and our original people for the protection and restoration of Mother Earth;
7. Prevention of Ethnocide;
8. The restoration of the original food of our peoples;
9. Proposals of the original peoples to reach peace and integral happiness of our Children of Mother Earth.
At the same time, the Children of Mother Earth of distinct parts of the American continent, enjoyed the cultural expressions of dances, rituals, and artisan expositions, promoting the cultural ethnic interchange.

The public reading of the official document of each table was defined by the sacred ritual “Panasion of Misak,” in gratefulness of the participation that the International Program “Children of Mother Earth” offers to ancestral communities.

Gabriela Lara thanked everyone for their participation and support for the continuation of this proposal of the GEAP, which comprises to take the pertaining to international authorities the voice of the Indigenous People and their contribution in the ancestral knowledge to humanity.
